ONE BIG IDEA

Making OCAD’s roof GREEN

The age of sustainable design has arrived. Professors at OCAD teach sustainability and the importance of such practice. Although the research from PART I of this assignment has shown that the facility itself and primarily its design does not 100% support the GREEN design.

The construction of the Sharp Center of Design allowed for a vast area of the rooftop of the structure. Although the space is underused and is not utilized to its fullest potential. The Green Roofing practices have become increasingly popular in Europe and some places in North America. Currently, there are even the whole cities where the Green roof practice is the primary issue when designing and constructing a new building.

So my main question and proposal of how can we make OCAD a greener and better place would be to propose the idea of Green Roof that will only benefit the OCAD’s community.
