One Big Idea: The EX-Space!!

Welcome to The Ex pace
We desire more excitement in our OCAD campus life!

We need some in-school activities that require physical participation, so that students or faculty staffs can enjoy in their spare time, and achieve the balance between physical and psychological exercises; and to form a more “humane” OCAD community. There should be no limitation to participants’ school years, faculties, genders, or nations; in that case, EVERYONE is welcomed!
Our group thought of using OCAD’s X-space as the OCAD EX-pace (Exercise-space) when it’s available, we’ll by setting up a few ping-pong tables or badminton nets. From our research, it shows that OCAD used to have one ping-pong table, but now it’s been taken away. These equipments will be easy to set up and store, so it won’t affect the events at the X-space.
We can either schedule 2-3 days in a week, to allow the access to the equipments, or we can schedule different activities on different days. For example: Monday 2:00- 8:00p.m. Badminton Club; Tue 2:00-7:00 Ping-pong club; Thursday 4:00-8:00 Dutch ball, etc.; and in-door soccer on Fridays.
The activities can also be placed in form of a mini-competitions or challenges. For example: video game champions; DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) dance king/queen; Best voice (Karaoke); The favorite dancer: hip-pop, breaking, ballet, jazz, cultural dance, etc.; or the Spring-bed jumper.
We also strongly encourage students to share self-invented games, such as the human-foosball that was set up in the Butterfield Park for last year’s interactive design class project.
Some other mini-games can involve Chess, Chinese Chess, Backgammon, and etc. These games train the problem-solving skills of our brain; allows the body to be peaceful; and would be a great opportunity to meet new friends.
In conclusion, In order to organize the equipments and schedules of the EX-pace, we’ve come up with the idea of forming OCAD Activity Council. The OCAD Activity Council will take responsibility of booking the available equipments, space and time; and most importantly, gathering OCAD’s favorite activities and games, and make them possible. Let’s bring our university campus to life!
