Nuit Blanche

Hi everyone!
Since I was unable to attend the lecture on Thursday morning due to my work schedule, Martha asked me to comment on my experiences at Nuit Blanche. This was my first Nuit Blanche ever, and probably one of the most exciting events I have ever attended! I left my house (right next to OCAD) around 7:30, and didn't get home until 5:45. Needless to say, I could hardly stand at work the next day, but it was worth every minute.
I think my favorite instillation was the one at the Eaton Center, inside the North East entrance. The artist had set up a sort of fake park, with turf, and fake trees and so on. On the side people could make drawings with black ink on paper, and then when they dried, they were scanned into a computer. On the ceiling the artist had put a blue screen to act as the 'sky' and was playing the drawings, which had been sent through a filter to look like clouds, across the screen. So there were tons of people on the floor looking at the 'sky' and watching the clouds go by, describing what they saw in them :) It was very cool.

My favorite piece of art work was at a gallery North of U of T, where an artist had been asked to do something on the wall seen from the entrance. The artist was dong an entire 'drawing' with black masking tape! It was so cool to watch him cut out the tape and put it on the wall. He did it all from sight, without any pre-drawing or guidelines.

Those where the highlights of my Niut Blanche Experience. Hope everyone else who went enjoyed it too!
