[murmur] Ryan&Jay

found by Ryan

Ok here i go...
I found this cool story from Richard Flohill who wrote about a burlesque house
(old strip club) turned into a rock, concert hall in the 70s at Dundas and
Spadina on the North West corner.

He explains that this location, used to be called Victory Burlesque and was the last holdout for burlesque performers in Toronto, after "The Casino" oppositeold city hall on Queen st. . "the Casino" was torn down when the Sheraton hotel along with the new city hall was constructed. After shut down business moved to the Victory burlesque theatre, untill business fell off. With business for the burlesque show slowing , as a result bands like "Rush" unknownto an american audience began to. Managers of "Rush" couldnt get americans into the band, so for 2 years they became concept promoters, building a relationship with the U.S music agencys. Eventually the Canadian "Rush" story caught on to americans. Before this happening big names like "Kiss" and "Iggy Pop" played the Victory Burlesque concert hall... now its a convenient store or something.
